Year 4

Week Beginning 22nd June 2020

Hello boys and girls.  We hope you all had a lovely weekend.  We have uploaded some nice, new activities to help you with your homeschooling this week.

In numeracy you will continue with revision work.  You will be revising addition, subtraction, money and ‘real-life’ problems.  We thought you might also enjoy some secret code-breaking activities.

In literacy you will revisit grammar.  However, the grammar this week will explore paragraphing.  We have uploaded a PowerPoint to help further explain paragraphing.  We have provided you with blank templates in the hope that you might write an exciting story called ‘The Dark Cave’.  Maybe if you journey through the dark cave and fight off all the terrifying mammals, amphibians and reptiles you might just find if you make it to the exit and come out of the cave, the summer holidays have arrived!!

We hope you are progressing well with your reading of The Ickabog.  There are approximately 40 chapters now available for you to read.

We have seen some fabulous examples of your work on Amphibians.  This week we would like you to explore Reptiles.  We have included some YouTube links to help you investigate reptiles in more detail.  You could use your scrapbook to show us what you have been finding out about reptiles.

We have added some useful links that you might like to explore during your summer holidays.  You could check out the link to NI Libraries and ‘Join the Silly Squad’. Also you could have hours of fun reading all the latest, exciting news on the C2K Newsdesk.

We hope you have enjoyed your Kidzone tasks each week.  The teachers and classroom assistants have missed you all very, very much.  It is hard to believe we have come to the end of our journey and we say a very sad goodbye and wish you well as you begin a new and exciting chapter with your new Year 5 teachers.  We have loved being your teachers and assistants and spending time with you each day.  We had so much fun together.

Good luck boys and girls from Mrs Gribbin, Mrs O’Neill, Mr Murray, Eve and Geraldine.  Happy holidays!!!!
